Illinois State Licensed Radon Measurement Professional
Testing
We follow the time sensitive protocol for testing. We use continuous radon monitors (CRM) and when deployed, duplicate e-perm devices. This is in accordance with the guidelines established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and IEMA Division of Nuclear Safety. Most tests take 48 hours, as long as closed door conditions appear to be met and weather during the test was within tolerable threshold. The report will be created the same day devices were retrieved. The report will include test results and recommendations. It will have all hourly readings from CRM with averaged out score in pCi/l and passive score from e-perm if used. We also draw the footprint of the property to scale and label the placement of the device(s). That too will be included and lastly a copy of declaration of voluntary compliance form. Our report is thorough and we strive to bring our clients the most accurate information possible. Please do not hesitate to reach out. We look forward to working for you and trying to keep people healthy as long as possible.
Radon Testing and Solutions is state licensed to measure radon gas in Illinois. We operate within a 50 mile radius of chicago. We offer radon tests for residential real estate, schools, day care centers and commercial buildings. We understand how harmful radon is to people and therefore, we try our best to schedule same day appointments. For real estate transactions we work closely with real estate agents and inspectors to gain access to the property, for the setting up of equipment and retrieving. That way you have one less thing to worry about during your home buying process.
Property Foundation
The state guidelines require us to have a device on each footprint of the property. In our local area we deal mostly with three different types of foundations. The three are slab on grade, crawlspace and basements. Every property has at least one but can have any number and a combination of these three. The state only requires a photo or sketch of the device placement(s). We take that to another level and give our clients proportional scale diagrams of their footprint and device placement respectively. We believe it is an effective resource a mitigator can use if your property does need a mitigation system. Also for record keeping and further testing in later years, you have a great baseline. When dealing with so many variables, precision is key for accurate results.
Action Level
Since radon gas is colorless and odorless, the only way to know what your home's levels are is to test. 1 out of 15 homes have high levels. Radon is part of our planet's air and it is all around us. Outdoor levels are around 0.4 pCi/l and the average home is around 1.3 pCi/l. What is considered “Action Level” is readings at or above 4.0 pCi/L. For reference 4.0 pCi/l is roughly smoking 8 cigarettes per day. Once a home is discovered to be over action level, mitigation is high recommended.

We want as many persons as possible to have a radon test done, that is why we take affordability serious.
